Frequently asked questions

We are a dual (college and high school) credit program. A student in our program will take classes both at the college and the high school.

As of now, students have to be 16 years or older at the start of the program to enroll.

The Academy is really a program for most students. Whether you are looking for a semester abroad, transferring to a 4 year university or something in between, we likely can accommodate. We also can assist with adult students interested in English language only or direct to college (no high school).

There are many but the main benefit is that students earn college credits while still in high school. By doing this, you have the potential to save a lot of time and money. When you start college, you will already have earned college credits from a regionally accredited institution. Additionally, you will have experience with college level education.

This will vary from student to student depending on your English and grade level. Every class you take with the college will earn you both high school and college credits. For students that need a little more English, you will be taking more high school only courses. No matter what situation you are in, you will continue to finish your high school.

Both! The international students will take some high school classes together (or individually) and with American students at the college.

We can help! We offer virtual English classes before coming to school, classes during your program and even small group or one to one support for those that need the extra support. Our goal is to prepare you but also make sure you don’t fall behind in school. No matter what level you are, our team is on campus throughout your education to support.

One of the biggest draws is that MiraCosta has guaranteed pathways to six University of California schools. This is a great opportunity for international students to save money, time but get into great schools. Additionally, we have other partner schools that are in California, in other states, public and private. Our counselors will work with you the entire way through your program.

Yes, we do have several scholarships available.

Our main start dates are in August and January (Fall and Spring semesters) that falls in line with the college. We have additional start dates in April and June. If, for any reason, you have a special circumstance and need to start at a different time please contact us directly at info@tam.edu.
